Granny 2
Granny 2 turns sound into your most dangerous enemy. Drop a single object and she hears it. Step wrong and a floorboard gives you away. This survival horror sequel adds a second stalker, a larger house, and three possible escape routes - but the fundamental skill the game tests has not changed: how quietly can you move through a space designed to make noise at every opportunity?
When Two Hunters Share the Same House
The shift from the original to Granny 2 is more than numerical. Granny hears almost everything - a bottle knocked over, a creaking step, even a chair brushed out of position. Grandpa operates differently: he is less sensitive to sound but faster on his feet and significantly more violent when he finds you. Managing both simultaneously requires entirely separate logic. The silence-and-hide approach that works against Granny has no effect on Grandpa, who doesn't respond to the noise you made - only to where you are.
The house reflects this dynamic. Rooms are arranged to make it difficult to track both hunters at once. A corridor that gives you line of sight on Grandpa's position might sit directly above Granny's patrol route. Granny 2 forces three-dimensional thinking: not just where you are going, but who controls each floor at any given moment and what sounds you can afford to make in order to get there.
How to Play Granny 2
The objective is straightforward: escape the house within five nights. Each night begins either after waking from capture or after choosing to sleep. The house contains items needed to unlock doors, disable traps, and open one of three escape routes. The main door requires specific keys and tools scattered throughout the property. The boat escape leads to a flooded section of the grounds where repairs must be completed before it can move. The helicopter escape demands reaching the roof and assembling components gathered from across multiple floors.
Each escape route carries its own item dependencies and access challenges. Deciding which route to pursue early changes what you prioritize collecting and which parts of the house you have to navigate most frequently. Getting caught costs one night. Losing all five ends the run.

Practice Mode Is Not a Shortcut
Granny 2 includes a Practice mode that removes both hunters from the house entirely. To new players, this sounds like an easy-mode option. It functions as something else entirely: a reconnaissance pass. The house is large and structurally complex, with locked rooms, hidden passages, and item spawn locations that are not intuitive on first encounter. Players who spend time in Practice mode mapping the layout enter Normal mode with a mental framework that eliminates the wasted movement that gets most players caught.
The game's real difficulty tutorial is your death count. Each run ends with a piece of information about your route, your timing, or your noise management that you did not have at the start of it.
What Makes Extreme Mode Actually Hard
Granny 2 offers five difficulty settings from Practice to Extreme. On Easy, floors do not creak and enemies move slowly. On Hard, extra locks appear on key doors and both hunters pick up speed. On Extreme, both operate at maximum efficiency with expanded trap coverage across the property.
The jump from Normal to Hard is noticeable. The jump from Hard to Extreme reframes the game. What makes Extreme genuinely difficult is not enemy speed alone - it is the lock density. More locked doors mean more items to collect before any exit becomes viable, which means more time spent in exposed areas of the house, which multiplies the opportunities for a single misplaced sound to trigger a chase sequence. The difficulty compounds logically from the base design rather than simply adding punishment.
Step in and see how long your silence holds. Horror Nun delivers the same tense stealth horror through a different setting and a different set of rules, and Red Face Horror brings its own brand of atmospheric scares - both free, both playable immediately.
